From 1 Jul 2024 to 19 Oct 2026 the archive holds 231 readings of the Hydrogen median.
The 231 points of the Hydrogen series are not evenly spaced: the Ministry archive is monthly in the early years, then weekly and finally daily, which is why the chart uses a time axis rather than a simple sequence of points.

What you are looking at
Automotive hydrogen is dispensed at 700 bar for fuel-cell cars and at 350 bar for buses and lorries. You pay per kilogram; a kilo takes a car something like a hundred kilometres, so comparing it with the price of a litre of petrol tells you nothing.
Very few fuel-cell vehicles are on Spanish roads, nearly all of them fleet or pilot-project cars, and the hydrogen stations open to the public can be counted on one hand. Almost every working site is attached to an industrial plant or a fleet project, and the map changes from one year to the next.
Frequently asked questions about the Hydrogen price history
How has the price moved over the past year?
Between 9.900 and 17.450 €/kg over the last twelve months, with today's median at 17.450 €/kg. The chart lets you narrow the range to 30, 90 or 365 days.
Why does today's price not exactly match the chart?
The chart plots the daily Hydrogen median from the archive, closed with the last reading of that day; the large figure at the top is the reading as of now, 17.450 €/kg on 19 Oct 2026. Once the day ends, the two agree.
How far back does the Hydrogen price data go?
Back to 1 Jul 2024, the first date on which the Ministry archive publishes a price for Hydrogen. Before that the product had no column of its own in the file.
What is the highest Hydrogen price on record?
17.450 €/kg on 8 May 2026. The low of the series is 1.080 €/kg, on 26 May 2025.
How much does Hydrogen cost right now?
17.450 €/kg as a median, from the reading on 19 Oct 2026: the highest in the whole series.
Where does this historical data come from?
From the public archive of the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition, which publishes one file per date with the prices of every filling station. It has been downloaded day by day and the national median for Hydrogen worked out for each day, from 1 Jul 2024 onwards.
Why are the points on the chart unevenly spaced?
Because the Ministry archive does not use the same frequency every year: for Hydrogen it starts on 1 Jul 2024 with monthly readings and ends with daily ones. The chart uses a time axis, so a long gap looks like a gap instead of being smoothed away.
