These lists answer one question for drivers coming from France: where are the first stations on the Spanish side that sell the fuel you need? For each crossing they show the nearest stations for LPG, HVO and AdBlue, with today's price and the straight-line distance. Prices from the official Spanish feed, last updated 18 Oct 2026, 20:00.
Three words to know at the pump:
| On the Spanish sign | What it is |
|---|---|
| GLP, autogas | LPG - the diamond-shaped pump label |
| Diésel renovable, HVO100 | Renewable diesel - the XTL label inside the diesel square |
| AdBlue | The same name as in France |
For an LPG car, the filler adapter and the rest of the practical side are in Driving to Spain with an LPG car: coverage, prices, forecourts. Whether a hire car may take HVO is covered in HVO in Spain: can you use renewable diesel in a hire car? - ask the rental company before you fill.
Irun: crossing on the Atlantic side
Irun, in Gipuzkoa, is the Spanish side of the Atlantic crossing: the French A-63 motorway continues as the AP-8, and the old road crosses the Bidasoa into the town.

La Jonquera: crossing on the Mediterranean side
La Jonquera, in Girona, is where the French A9 motorway becomes the AP-7.

The other crossings: LPG first
Away from the two motorways the crossings are smaller roads, most of them mountain passes. Of the three fuels, LPG has the thinnest network - 995 stations in Spain, against 1,618 for HVO and 2,938 for AdBlue - so these lists show LPG. For HVO and AdBlue, use the lists of the nearest motorway crossing above, or the HVO map and the AdBlue map.

After dark: stations with nobody on the forecourt
Coming off a long motorway leg late at night, you may pull into a station with no staff in sight. Spanish rules separate two cases. At an instalación en autoservicio there are people on site, but «el personal presente en la instalación no realiza el suministro al vehículo, que es llevado a cabo por el cliente»: you fill the tank yourself. An instalación desatendida runs with nobody supervising the supply and authorises the pump through a terminal that may accept «billetes, tarjetas bancarias u otro sistema de identificación electrónica».
RD 706/2017, ITC MI-IP 04: self-service and unattended stations (BOE)Carry a card that works abroad, and check the opening hours on the station page before a night crossing: they are the hours each station declares to the ministry, and the page tells you whether it is open right now.
Diesel, and the pump to leave alone
Ordinary road diesel is gasóleo A. Next to it you may see gasóleo B: under Spanish rules that class is for «usos agrícola, ferroviario, marítimo y máquinas móviles no de carretera». It is dyed, taxed differently and not for a car, a van or a motorhome on the road.
RD 61/2006, article 3: gasóleo class A and class B (BOE)AdBlue: pump or can
The pump is signed surtidor de AdBlue. Repsol sets out the trade-off plainly: at a pump you get a certified product and exactly the quantity you need, while the sealed container from the shop, the garrafa, makes sense where no nearby station has a pump. The AdBlue nozzle has a dedicated connector that only fits the right filler, under a blue cap.
Repsol - AdBlue at the pump or in a containerNot every AdBlue dispenser is set up for a car. GreenChem, which supplies dispensing systems, says its pumps may serve both lorries and passenger cars, but adds «please check the site if this is possible». In a car, if the only AdBlue pump you can see is in the lorry lane, ask before you use it.

The distance is a straight line from where the border town's filling stations are, not the distance by road. Over a mountain pass the drive can be much longer than the number suggests: open the station page and use Directions before you count on it.
Each row links to the station page, with opening hours, the price history and the other fuels it sells. A station that is closed at night shows it there. The price column compares each station with the national median for that fuel.
If you are already on the road, the LPG map has a "My location" button: it centres on you and shows the nearest stations with their prices, without leaving the page.

Frequently asked questions
What is LPG called at Spanish filling stations?
GLP (gases licuados del petróleo) or autogas. The pump carries the diamond-shaped identifier that the European fuel labels use for gaseous fuels.
What is HVO called at Spanish filling stations?
Look for diésel renovable, HVO100 or a brand name. On the European label it is the diesel square with XTL inside, next to the ordinary B7 diesel.
Can I fill up at night at a station with nobody on site?
Yes, if the station is unattended: Spanish rules allow the pump to be authorised through a terminal that may take notes, bank cards or another electronic identification. Carry a card that works abroad.
Are the distances in these lists road distances?
No. They are straight-line distances from where the filling stations of the border town are. The route can be longer, especially over the Pyrenean passes: open the station page and use Directions.
How current are the prices?
They come from the official price feed of the Spanish ministry (MITECO), which the page reloads during the day. The time of the last update is shown on the page.
